Vijay Mishra is the President and Managing Principal of The Mishra Group. He oversees all aspects of the Firm's business units, including commercial real estate investment, management, and leasing, as well as its residential and commercial construction business. Mr. Mishra was born and raised in Toronto and moved to Houston during high school. He attended Texas A&M University and majored in industrial engineering. Mr. Mishra was a member of the Aggie Corps of Cadets in college as his original intentions were to join the United States Air Force and fly fighter jets. He started his career in the oil-and-gas business. In 1997, Mr. Mishra earned his Master in Business Administration in Finance from the University of St. Thomas. In the same year, Mr. Mishra left oil-and-gas and started building custom and track homes across Houston. After 14 years and over 50 houses later, Mr. Mishra purchased his first commercial shopping center in 2011 and has since built a portfolio of commercial real estate properties exceeding one million square feet and been instrumental in the execution of over $250 million in commercial real estate transactions. He specializes in value-add properties requiring rehabilitation and stabilization, but the Firm has been involved in transactions across several asset classifications. Mr. Mishra has served on the Board of Directors for the organization that oversees all municipal utility districts (MUDs) in Houston since 1996. Mr. Mishra has also collaborated on several significant governmental matters throughout Texas. Mr. Mishra and his wife have three adult children—all boys—who each attended business school and are involved in real estate in some capacity. His youngest son, Shiv, started working with his father and now leads all acquisition activities for the Firm.

Shiv K. Mishra leads the Firm’s commercial real estate investment business and is responsible for all functions relating to acquisition, disposition, leasing, and asset management. He joined the Firm in 2017 and has since participated in commercial real estate transactions exceeding $100 million in aggregate volume, spanning the private and institutional capital markets. Shiv has developed extensive experience in navigating the competitive landscape of commercial real estate and has become skilled in structuring offers to win deals that often attract the attention of buyers with portfolios exceeding $500 million. Additionally, Shiv has handled several complex lease transactions from inception, negotiating with real estate departments at some of the largest retail companies, including grocery store chains, national fitness brands, clothing retailers, liquor stores, pet and veterinary stores, home furnishing chains, and the list goes on. Further, Shiv oversees all the Firm’s legal matters, including transactional activities, lease compliance, corporate governance, and all litigation issues. Shiv’s father encouraged him to learn this business young. Even before starting college, Shiv was originating CMBS loans with Wall Street bankers on the other side who were sure Shiv was married, had children, and well into his thirties. Meanwhile, he was still a high school student. He wrote his college admissions essay on this subject and had a résumé to back it. Shiv elected to attend the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin. Deeply involved socially, academically, and philanthropically, he was affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club, the Neighborhood Longhorn Program, and several other local charitable organizations. Shiv’s personal interests are diverse: he loves airplanes, the development, advance and application of artificial intelligence, traveling, enjoying great meals, and the Longhorns.
